Standing Lounge Rules:
It is the Policies of the Towson Post #22, The American Legion, to put into place with immediate effect the following Standing Lounge Rules:
- Who Shall Be Admitted:
- All Towson Post #22, The American Legion Members showing current membership cards and their guests.
- All American Legion, Sons of American Legion and Auxiliary Members of other Posts showing current membership cards and their guests.
- All guest must depart when the “Host” member leaves.
- Any child (defined as under the age of 21) in the lounge must be under the direct supervision of an adult Legion member and are not permitted to occupy a location at the bar.
- In Order to Be Admitted:
- ALL MEMBERS-INCLUDING Towson Post #22, The American Legion Members-Must show a current membership card to the bartender, unless known by the bartender as a current member.
- Any Legionnaire in good standing may visit the lounge on the merits of the American Legion membership and by showing a membership card. Such Legionnaires need not be a guest of a Post member. However, it is proper etiquette that said Legionnaire sign the guest book.
- All Guests MUST sign the Guest Book.
- Members are responsible for their Guests and may not leave before them.
- General Lounge Rules:
- Appropriate dress is required. Shirt and shoes are required at all times.
- The Lounge will be opened or closed according to posted hours. Early closing is at the sole discretion of the bartender on duty.
- No one but the bartender on duty, the lounge manager/lounge committee chair, the Commander, the First Vice Commander, the Finance Officer or members of the lounge committee are permitted behind the bar without the expressed permission of the bartender on duty.
- Smoking, including e cigarettes is prohibited in the lounge area.
- Violations of the following nature will incur the punishments as listed:
- Loud, boisterous, or profane language.
- No guns or knives allowed. An exception is for designated Legionnaires that are responsible for taking the lounge money from the Post premise to the bank. They must be licensed to carry a gun by the State of MD and present this permit to the Lounge Manage/Lounge Chairperson. We also grant an exception to ex-police officers who are licensed to carry by the State of MD and who are employees of Post # 22.
- Drinks of any kind brought onto or taken from the premises (unless awarded as part of a raffle or gift).
- Dogs or pets of any kind unless it is a Service Dog/Pet as defined by the Americans with Disability Act. Emotional Support Dogs/Pets are prohibited.
- Discussion of Post business to include items discussed during Legion meetings, Executive Committee meetings and Legion Financial matters.
- Any violations of any of the above rules will incur the following punishments:
- First offense will be given a verbal warning.
- Second offense is a written warning/letter of reprimand.
- Third offense is suspension of lounge privileges for a minimum of 7 days but no more than 30 days based on the severity of the offense as decided by the lounge committee.
- Fourth offense requires that the member appear before the Legion membership in a hearing to determine if additional suspension from the Lounge or expulsion from the Legion is needed.
- Violations of the following nature will incur the punishments as listed:
- Intoxicated Members or Guest as determined by the bartender on duty or per sub para 5 (Authority) of Towson Post # 22, The American Legion, Lounge Policies & Procedures.
- Use of Illegal substances (as defined by MD State Law).
- Bigoted or racist remark.
- Oral or written statements, gestures or expressions that communicate a direct or indirect threat of physical harm.
- Sexual remarks as defined by the Post Policy of Freedom from Sexual Harassment.
- Purchase or distribution of alcoholic drink to a minor.
- Conduct or behavior unbecoming of a Legionnaire.
- Any violations of any of the above rules will incur the following punishments:
- First offense will be asked to leave the lounge for the rest of the day and given a written warning/letter of reprimand.
- Second offense is suspension of lounge privileges for a minimum of 7 days but no more than 30 days based on the severity of the offense as decided by the lounge committee.
- Third offense requires that the member appear before the Legion membership in a hearing to determine if additional suspension from the Lounge or expulsion from the Legion is needed.
- Violations of the following nature will incur the punishments as listed:
- Physical assault and/or bodily harm of any nature and/or destruction of Legion property will incur immediate suspension of lounge privileges until the member appear before the Legion membership in a hearing to determine if additional suspension from the Lounge or expulsion from the Legion is needed.
THESE STANDING LOUNGE RULES ARE PUT INTO IMMEDIATE EFFECT BY AUTHORITY OF THE COMMANDER
