A JOURNEY FOR THE CHILDREN OF THE FALLEN

Back in 1995, several members of The American Legion Post #396 in Michigan started a motorcycl enthusiasts association within the American Legion family.

The concept was adopted by Post after Post in the United States and Europe and the groups became known as the American Legion Riders.

The American Legion Riders' primary function is to raise funds for the Legacy Schlorship Fund.  The Scholarship Fund supports the needs of the children of parents who lost their lives while on active duty since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.  This fund does not have any overhead costs and 100% of the monies donated are used for schlorships.  Last year the annual Legacy Run journey raised over $1 million in contributions, all of which has been used to provide college scholarships for the children of the fallen.

This year's annual Legacy Run will leave Indianapolis, Indiana on August 23rd arriving on August 26th at their final destination which is American Legion Post #22 in Towson, Maryland.  Over 400 of the American Legion Riders from all over the United States and Europe are participating.

The general public is invited to join the officers and members of the Towson American Legion Post #22 at the Post Home on 125 York Road, Towson, Marland between 3pm and 4pm on August 26th to welcome the group which will include the American Legion National Commander Mike Helm.
